ACTIONS RELATING TO CHAIRHOLDERS
The following resolution was adopted:
- RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following persons be and they are hereby elected to the named chairs as shown below:
- Dr. Rayford S. Jones as Stephen H. Watts Professor of Surgery, effective January 1, 1982.
- Mr. Miles A. Townsend as Alice M. and Guy A. Wilson Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Science, effective January 1, 1982.
- (b) Leave of Absence for Chairholders
- Mr. Edwin Burmeister, Commonwealth Professor of Economics, for one semester, effective September 1, 1981, to accept a visiting position at Duke University.
- Mr. Edwin S. Cohen, Joseph M. Hartfield Professor of Law, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1981, to serve as Counsel to the Covington and Burling Law Firm.
- Mr. Ernest A. Gellhorn, T. Munford Boyd Professor of Law, for one academic year, effective September 1, 1981, to enable him to be partially supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship.
- (c) Change of Title for Chairholder
- Dr. Peter J. Quesenberry, from Byrd Stuart Leavell Professor of Medicine, to Byrd Stuart Leavell Professor of Medicine and Professor of Otolaryngology, for three years, effective July 1, 1981.
