ZONING REQUEST FOR THE CARTER-PORTER PROPERTY

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS the Carter-Porter property located directly across Jefferson Park Avenue from New Cabell Hall is currently zoned for multiple dwelling (R3), and
  • WHEREAS a proposal has been made to change this zoning to B-1 in order to permit commercial development in the area, and
  • WHEREAS the Board of Visitors recognizes that such commercial development adjacent to University property would not be compatible with existing plans for land use and not in harmony with future University plans,
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the University be recorded as being opposed to the rezoning of the Carter-Porter Property to B-1 (for Commercial Development).
