RESIDENCE HALL AT MARY WASHINGTON COLLEGE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS the residence halls at Mary Washington College are overcrowded; and
  • WHEREAS the College must vacate eighty spaces as the result of the termination of the Betty Lewis lease; and
  • WHEREAS by 1972-73 about 250 spaces will be needed;
  • NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the planning of a residence hall with a capacity of approximately 250 be, and it is hereby authorized; and
  • RESOLVED FURTHER that Mr. H. C. Johnson, Jr., of Fredericksburg, Virginia, be engaged as the architect for the project.
