PROPOSED GIFT OF MRS. JOHN CALVIN METCALF

The President reported that Mrs. John Calvin Metcalf had presented to the University a check for $2,000, the income from which was to be used to maintain her husband's headstone in the University Cemetery. After consideration, the Secretary was instructed to inform Mrs. Metcalf that the Board of Visitors was not in a position to accept a gift to be used for the specific maintenance of a single area of the Cemetery. He was further instructed, however, to inform Mrs. Metcalf that the Board had instructed its Buildings & Grounds Chairman to study the broader aspects of Cemetery maintenance which may help in reaching the goal she seeks.
