LEAVES OF ABSENCE

The following resolution was adopted:

  • RESOLVED by the Board of Visitors of The Rector and Visitors of the University of Virginia that the following faculty members be and they are hereby granted leave of absence:
  • Dr. Robert M. Berne, Professor of Physiology and Chairman of the Department of Physiology, for one year, effective 1 September 1965, without pay, to accept a post-doctoral fellowship in England to work on cardiac metabolism.
  • Mr. James R. Connor, Assistant Professor of History, for the period 1 September 1965 through 31 May 1966, without pay, to accept an internship in academic administration at Stanford University, sponsored by the American Council on Education.
  • Dr. James D. Deck, Associate Professor of Anatomy, for one year, effective 1 September 1965, without pay, to seek further training in new techniques in developmental biology at Harvard University.
  • Mr. John F. Hahn, Associate Professor of Psychology, for the period 1 September 1965 through 31 August 1966, without pay, for training in methods of research on sensory nerves at Eaton-Peabody Laboratory in Boston, as holder of USPHS Special Fellowship from the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness.
  • Mrs. Regina M. Mays, Instructor in Nursing, for the period 20 September 1965 through 12 November 1965, without pay, for maternity leave.
  • Mr. W. Bedford Moore, III, Assistant Professor of Humanities in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, for the period 1 September 1965 through 31 January 1966, without pay, for the purposes of writing and traveling abroad.
