DONATIONS.

In April, 1881, the following gifts to the University were made good by the fulfilment
of the required conditions:

By Leander J. McCormick, Esq., of Chicago, Ill., Large Refracting Telescope,
valued at $50,000; Observatory building fund, $18,000.

By Wm. H. Vanderbilt, Esq., of New York, $25,000.

By Friends and Alumni, endowment fund for Directorship of Observatory, $50,000.

DONATIONS TO MUSEUM.

1. A series of minerals, forty-nine in number, from G. C. Blackwell, Liverpool,
England.

2. Silver ores, from Dr. A. Brown.

3. A considerable number of specimens of rocks and minerals, collected in the field
work of the Professor of Natural History and Geology during the last summer, has
been added to the collections.
