REGULATIONS.

1916-1917.

I. An Inter-Scholastic Track Meet will be held at the University
of Virginia, May 12th, 1917.

II. This meet is open to all secondary schools of Virginia whether
public or private.

III. It will consist of the following events: 100-yard dash; 220-yard
dash; 440-yard run; 880-yard run; one mile run; 120-yard high
hurdles; 220-yard low hurdles; high jump; broad jump; pole vault;
javelin throw; discus throw; 12 lb. shot put; relay race closed to state
high schools; Championship relay race.

III. Each contestant must be a bona fide regular student, less than
21 years of age at the beginning of the session, and must have been
in regular attendance at the school he represents for at least sixty
days before the meet. No student, who receives or has received any
financial inducement or concession of any kind to attend a school
on account of his athletic services, may take part in this meet.

V. Points will be scored as follows: First place, 5; second, 3; third,
2; fourth, 1. The relay race will not count in the point score.

VI. Cups will be given to (a) the school winning the meet, (b) the
school winning the relay races, (c) the highest individual point winner.
Medals will be given for first, second and third place in each
event.

VII. The rules of the Inter-Collegiate Amateur Athletic Association,
published by A. G. Spalding & Bros., will govern this meet.

VIII. Schools desiring to be represented in this meet should notify
the Secretary of the League prior to March 29th in order that they
may be furnished with entry blanks.

IX. All contestants coming to the University for this meet will be
entertained as guests of the General Athletic Association while at
the University. This entertainment will be extended also to any
principal or teacher desiring to accompany his team.

X. A registration fee of fifty cents will be charged for each man
entered by a school, this single fee entitling the man to enter as
many events as he wishes. This fee must be sent to the secretary
with the list of entries, and no entry will be accepted until fee has
been paid.

XI. All correspondence should be addressed to A. R. Boyd, Secretary
of the Virginia High School Literary and Athletic League,
