ON RELIGIOUS PROFESSORS EXPOSING THE FAULTS OF OTHERS.
Who for his crimes a brother shall disown,Shall, in their turn, be pillory'd for their own;
And, having join'd to brand another's name,
Shall want a shelter to conceal their shame;
The faults they publish as an embryo die,
While theirs shall glare and dance in every eye:
With every breeze the echoing air shall rend,
“This is the man who spared not his friend;
“This is the man, who, for another's sin,
“Hath digg'd a pit, and, digging it, fell in!
