FICHTE, Johann Gottlieb (1762-1814):
German philosopher who promoted his own version of KANTIAN thought and a rabid NATIONALISM which found expression in his Address to the German Nation (1808-1809). His writings are seen by many as one of the intellectual roots of modern RACISM.
