Why laughe you at Iack-dawes? I cannot see
But that Iacke-dawe's both wise and honest bee

Honest in this: howskeeping they vphold;
They keepe good howses as in daies of old.
And herein wise: Greate men greate howses make
But Iackdawes straight possession of them take
Thare wise and honeste, and to outward showe
They are devoute; to Church they dailie goe
Longe maie they live. For Iack-dawes I will praie;
Were Iackdawes dead, howskeeping would decaie.
