LOAN OF BOOKS

Books may be borrowed from the General Library by (1) members of the
University; (2) former officers and professors who are residing at the University;
and (3) card-holders. Cards are issued to residents of Charlottesville
and vicinity and to visitors to the University who are guaranteed in writing by
a member of the faculty who is of professorial rank and who is not a member
of the library staff.

Books borrowed by members of the faculty of professorial rank or by instructors
who are not doing graduate work are subject to return on request
by the librarians; all such loans should be returned before the first of June
of each year, and records previous to that date should be cleared before further
borrowing of books. All other loans are for a period of two weeks or less,
and are subject to fines for detention or injury of books.
