THE POWER OF PASSIONS
Philander

The Danger ready to ensue,
With Reason's whole Militia went

The Danger ready to ensue,
With Reason's whole Militia went
His Rebel-Passion to subdue;
On this decisive wish'd-for Day,
Resolv'd to vanquish, or obey.
But when bright Clelia took the Field,

Before, he cry'd, I am destroy'd,
I'll try if Flight will Conquest gain,
By Time and Distance I'll avoid
Fresh Wounds, and ease my present Pain.
Those, who would Clelia's Strength defy,
Must not engage, but bravely fly.
I'll try if Flight will Conquest gain,
By Time and Distance I'll avoid
Fresh Wounds, and ease my present Pain.
Those, who would Clelia's Strength defy,
Must not engage, but bravely fly.
