MOTIONS FOR EXECUTIVE SESSIONS

  • The following motions were unanimously adopted by vote of all Visitors present:
  • (a) That the Executive Committee go into Executive Session to consider personnel matters involving University appointees including appointments as provided for in Section 2.1-341(a) (1) of the Code of Virginia.

  • (b) That the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual and potential litigation, or other legal matters within the jurisdiction of the Board, as provided for in Section 2.1-344(a) (6) of the Virginia Code.
  • (c) That the full Board go into Executive Session for the discussion or consideration of personnel matters involving University officers, appointees, or employees.
  • (d) That the Buildings and Grounds Committee go into Executive Session for the discussion or consideration of gifts, bequests and fund raising activities (Section 2.1-344(a) (7) of the Virginia Code).
  • (e) That the Educational Policy Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 10 on that Committee's agenda for the discussion and evaluation of the performance of University departments or schools if individual employees might be affected by the evaluation.
  • (f) That the Health Affairs Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 11 on that Committee's agenda for the following reason: to discuss the evaluation of the performance of Departments of the School of Medicine and the University of Virginia Hospital which affect personnel.
  • (g) That the Finance Committee go into Executive Session for Item Number 21 on that Committee's agenda for the following reason: to discuss or consider personnel matters involving public employees including salaries, and discussion and evaluation of departments or schools where individual employees might be affected by the evaluation.
  • (h) That the Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 20 on that Committee's agenda for the following reason: to discuss or consider the acquisition or disposition of real property for a public purpose if that discussion could affect the value of property owned by or desirable for ownership by the University as provided for in Section 2.1-344(a) (2) of the Virginia Code.
  • (i) That the Finance Committee of the Board of Visitors go into Executive Session for Item Number 19 on that Committee's agenda for the following reason: to discuss the investing of public funds where competition or bargaining is involved when if made public initially the University's financial interests would be adversely affected as provided for in Section 2.1-344(a) (5) of the Virginia Code.
