German DOMINICAN who became a follower of LUTHER and a leader of the PROTESTANT REFORMATION in Switzerland before becoming professor of Theology at Cambridge, England, in 1549. His THEOLOGY of the EUCHARIST mediated between that of LUTHER and ZWINGLI.
