AN ACROSTIC On the Word “Acrostic.”
ADIEU, vain world, and all thou art,Care's guilt is thine, and mine the smart:
Riches, ambition, honours, joys,
Only present in vain their toys.
Sick is my life, and sick I'd be,
Tir'd with thy lifeless vanity.
If thou once grant me ought, be't this;
Christ be my choice, let me be his!
