TRANSCENDENCE:
from the Latin meaning "to surpass" or "go beyond." In general the term is used in three ways: to designate any ideal, thing or BEING that "stands over against" the knowing subject; to signify that which stands "over against" all FINITE being such as GOD; and to designate certain CATEGORIES that necessarily characterize any conceivable or possible being.
