Heav'n's Truths, and Mysteries, many a Soul can solve,
Whom labour, care, and poverty, involve—
Whose heads no learning bear; no knowledge boast—
Ne'er mix'd with cleric herd, or courtly host;
But constant Courtiers round God's gracious Throne,
Who makes to such His Truths and Mysteries known—
While King, and Priest, yea, ev'n prelatic Clerk,
Purblind with Pride, grope daily in the dark.
