LXVI.

A trusty partizan, faithful and bold,
Is worth his weight in silver or in gold
For times of trouble; but the race is rare,—
Steady, determin'd men, ready to share
Good or ill fortune! Such, if such there are,
Could you survey the world, and search it round,
And bring together all that could be found,
The largest company you could enrol,
A single vessel would embark the whole!
So few there are! the noble, manly minds,
Faithful and firm, the men that honour binds,
Impregnable to danger and to pain,
And low seduction in the shape of gain.
