[_]

IN THE DINING-ROOM OF MY FRIEND, THE REV. C. F. NORMAN, MISTLEY PLACE, MANNINGTREE.

No shadow falls upon the festive room
From that pathetic scene—that clouded Face
Bent on the board with melancholy grace.
That glorious picture sheds no touch of gloom,
But rather a soft radiance to illume
The banquet, as upon the wall we trace
The symbol of a happier time and place,
When at Heaven's feast immortal flowers shall bloom.
“Jesus and His disciples” let us “call”
To bless and beautify our brightest hours,
And breathe a chastened gladness over all:
Thus will He call us to those festal bowers,
Where no fair pictured form shall meet the view,
But His own Self—the Living, Loving, True.
