Life and Death
God walked in heaven, on high, afar.
God thought a happy thought, and smiled.
The thought fell earthward like a star;
The thought became a new-born child.
God thought a happy thought, and smiled.
The thought fell earthward like a star;
The thought became a new-born child.
God walked and wondered: “Yesterday
What happy thought my heart enthralled?”
Cold, white, and sweet the infant lay—
God, smiling, had His thought recalled.
What happy thought my heart enthralled?”
Cold, white, and sweet the infant lay—
God, smiling, had His thought recalled.
