Ad Cæsarem, Epig. 5.

If by chance (Cæsar) thou take up my Books,
Lord of the world put by thy morning looks:
Thy greatest tryumphs have admitted mirth,
Nor need'st thou blush to give my fancy birth,
With what aspect thou smilest on Thymele,
Or mimicall Latinus, read thou mee.

My life is modest though my lines be loose.
