We have lately seen a
single person go and decide on a settlement in
Kentucky, many hundred miles from any white
inhabitant, remove thither with his family and
a few neighbors; and though perpetually harassed
by the Indians, that settlement in the
course of ten years has acquired thirty thousand
inhabitants.—
