5057. MARINE HOSPITALS, Establishment of.—
With respect to marine hospitals,
I presume you know that such establishments
have been made by the General Government
in the several States, that a portion of
seamen's wages is drawn for their support, and
the Government furnishes what is deficient.
Mr. Gallatin is attentive to them, and they will
grow with our growth.—
To James Ronaldson. Washington ed. vi, 92.
