HUSAYN, Ibn 'Ali (626-680):
grandson of MUHAMMAD and third IMAM of the SHI'A. Escaping from the CALIPH Yazd, the son of Mu'awiya, he and 200 followers were surrounded near Kufa and brutally murdered on the October 10th, 680. He is considered a MARTYR by Shi'a who see in his death sacrificial value.
