TENRI-KYO:

a MODERN branch of SHINTO which emphasizes educational, MISSIONARY, and SOCIAL work. It was founded by two female SHAMAN, a peasant named Kino and a housewife Nakayama Miki. Both women appear to have had a vivid religious experiences which transformed their lives leading to the formation of this Shint REVITALIZATION MOVEMENT. The teachings of the GROUP show CHRISTIAN and BUDDHIST influences and in many ways resemble CHRISTIAN SCIENCE. Human SOULS are part of GOD with the implication that we create our own GOOD and EVIL. Evil is overcome by turning it into good through a process of SALVATION which establishes communication with GOD through PURIFICATION and religious RITUALS.
