Summary
Manuscript, Valentine Museum, Richmond, Virginia; A financial misunderstanding prompts Poe to write to Samuel Graves, to whom he owes some sum of money. In addition, Poe mentions a debt to Downey, a mutual friend or colleague. Expressing frustration about his foster father John Allan, from whom Poe hopes to obtain the funds, Poe ends by pledging to pay off all of his debts plus interest.
