Manuscript, Valentine Museum, Richmond, Virginia; Poe requests of John Allan that he act as a guarantor to cover any loss incurred in the publication by Misters Carey, Lea, & Carey of Poe's poem "Al Aaraaf." He refers to the opinion of Mr. Wirt who has seen merit in the poem and suggested that Poe contact Mr. Walsh, the editor of the American Quarterly Review.
