Letter from Charles N. Tenney to Adelaide E. Case
Charles are excusing himself for not writing back to Addie properly. Promise that he from now
on will be more "punctual". As excuses for not writing he mentions that the weather lately has
been very severe and that his fellow soldiers are so noisy that he can't concentrate his
thoughts very well. This situation he blames on the thin, small tents where 12 soldiers spend
their nights and free time. Charles praises his health and state of mind and tributes it to the
fact that he recently met Addie and her brother. He goes on to thank Addie for the present she
sent him. He reassures her of his love and hopes it's mutual. Finally he answers Addies
question from an earlier letter about General Fremont. Charles doesnt apporve of the removal of
Fremont from command.
