In the construction of the buildings, about 60,000,000 feet of lumber and 18,000 tons of steel and iron have been used. In their adornment, nearly 84,000 pieces of ornamental "staff" work have been added. The total expense before the doors are thrown open to the public will not be far from twenty-five million dollars.
