A DREAM-HAVEN

Where is my soul to-night? Around me
Were friendless streets and loveless eyes;
The naming of thy name unbound me,
I fled to sapphire lakes and skies.
Where is my soul? far yonder, singing
With nightingales 'neath starlit trees?
Or here, bereft and songless, wringing
Joy drop by drop from memory's lees?
