URN BURIAL.

Earth is too full of graves,
So is Man's Mind:
Must we be always slaves,
Self-shackled, blind?
Like fierce Mezentius, tie
Living to Dead?
No!—let flame purify
The foul instead,—
Purge quickly soil and air,
Body and soul,
Of base obstruction there,
In man's control,—
Give thus, for horror and pest,
Some ashes, white
As snow or sea-wave's crest
Or still moonlight,
Or thoughts of the loved and blest
Withdrawn from sight.
