Never may these lips expressMy affection's fond excess;
Never will I love thee less
Than in this hour I've met thee:
Light, as pure as stars above,
Light, as dear as Time may prove,
Light of beauty, hope, and love;
O! I will ne'er forget thee!

But not one more true—sincere—
Beloved, could implore thee:
O! should sorrow thee o'ertake
My fond heart with pain might break,
But it never could forsake:—
To death it will adore thee!
