THE APPROXIMATION AND CO-OPERATION OF MANKIND.
The World is drawing to one focus: PastAnd Present; Distant, Near; all minds, all days
Before and since the Flood, converge their rays
In one aye-growing light, o'erspreading fast
The Earth's dark places. Coming 'tis at last,
That new revealing of the Eternal ways,
A new apocalypse as of God's face,
His look, as over Chaos, once more cast,
And Light is, new-create! In one grand sight,
All lesser there combined, Humanity,
Sublimest one-eyed Cyclops, full of light
And single, fixed on God, and led thereby,
(As guides in fixedness the Pole-star right),
Shall see its way, for “single” grows its eye.
