ASTRE DE LA NUIT.

(Par ANNA COXE, agée de douze ans et demi.)

TRANSLATION.

Heavenly star of lovely night,
Glittering in the azure sky,
How I love thy halo bright,
When stealing from Aurora's eye.

37

Rival of Phœbe's placid gleam,
Still more celestial is thy beam;
How brilliant is thy lustre clear,
Amidst the balmy atmosphere.
Continue lucent shining star,
To guide my wandering steps afar;
And still each evening as I stray,
Shed o'er my walk thy silver ray.
