GREENWOOD MUSIC

O charmèd song that every greenwood sings,
Sings low, sings high, sings ever faint yet strong;
Thy mystic echo through the forest rings,
O charmèd song.
What threads the strain the stars hymn all night long?
What undernote is heard from golden strings?
Longing and loving, agony and wrong;
The ravished nests, the robin's broken wings;
Defeated years that through the green aisles throng;
The tear that at thy poignant music springs,
O charmèd song.
