Dia Poemata | ||
To my Friend, the Author.
Amongst your other Friends (Dear Sir) that bringUnto your Sacred Muse their Offering,
Accept a Verse from him, who how to pay
Due praise in Verse, did ne're till now essay.
'Tis you make me a Poet, and I'm bound,
T'offer my First-fruits to your Holy ground.
For why? who reads your Book may dare thereon
Swear he hath washt his lips in Helicon.
An't may be prov'd, the argument runs thus,
Where Feet Poetick are, there's Pegasus.
