To my most esteemed friend Maister Thomas Collins.

From Newports bloudy battell (sung by thee)
With Yaxley's death (the flow'r of Chiualry)
And from thy well-pen'd Publican, to bee
Transported thus to fields of Arcady,
Shewes that thy Muse is apt for all assayes,
And thou a man that meriteth renowne.
Diuine, Poeticall, and Past'rall Layes,
Doe all concurre, thy Browes with Bayes to crowne.
Collins, liue euer, in thy lines liue euer,
Liue euer honord by the Trumpe of Fame:
And let all those that in these Arts endeauor,
In their praise-worthy works, still praise thy name:
Who (in all Subiects) dost so sweetly sing,
Enuie her selfe to touch thee hath no sting.
