1. The first part, made for a man and a childe to sing, or otherwise for voices or Instruments of Musicke, that be of the like compasse or distance in sound.
[I. Blessed are those that are vndefiled]
Blessed are those, that are vndefiled in the way, and walke in the law of the Lord, blessed are they that keepe his testimonies, and seeke him with their whole hart for they which doe no wickednesse walke in his waies thou hast charged that wee shall diligently, keepe thy commaundements,
[II. O that my wayes were made so direct]
O that my wayes were made so direct that I might keepe thy statutes, be so shall I not be confounded while I haue respect, vnto all thy commaundements, I will thanke thee, with an vnfayned hart when I shall haue learned the iudgements of thy righteousnesse, I will keepe thy ceremonies forsake mee not vtterly.
[III. Wherwithall shall a yong man clense his way]
Wherewithall shall a yong man cleanse his waie euen by ruling him selfe after thy word, with my whole hart haue I sought thee O let me not go wrong out of thy commaundements, thy wordes haue I hid within my hart that I should not sinne, against thee against the blessed art thou O Lorde O teach me thy statutes,
[IIII. With my lips haue I bene telling]
With my lips haue I beene telling, of all the iudgements of thy mouth, I haue had as great delight in the waie of thy testimonies, as in all maner of riches, I will talke of thy commaundements, and haue respect vnto thy waies, my delyght shalbe in thy statutes, and I will not forget thy word.
[V. O do well vnto thy seruant]
O do well vnto thy seruant, that I may liue and keepe thy word, open thou mine eies that I may see the wondrous things of thy law, I am a stranger vpon earth, O hide not thy commaundements from me, my soule breaketh out, for very feruent desire, that it hath alway vnto thy iudgements
[VI. Thou hast rebuked the proud]
Thou hast rebuked the proud, and cursed are they that doe erre from thy commaundements, O turne from me shame & rebuke for I haue kept, thy testimonies, Princes also did sit & speak against mee, but thy seruant is occupied, in thy statutes for thy testimonies are my delight and my counsaylers.
[VII. My soule cleaueth to the dust]
My soule cleaueth, to the dust, O quicken thou mee according to thy word, I haue knowledged my waies, and thou heardest me O teach mee thy statutes, make mee to vnderstand, the waie of thy cōmaundements, and so shall I talke of thy wondrous works, my soule melteth away for heauynesse, for very heauynesse, comfort thou mee, according vnto thy word.
[VIII. Take from mee the way of lying]
Take from mee the waie of lying, and cause thou me, to make much of thy law, I haue chosen the way, of truth, and thy iudgements, haue I layd, before mee, I haue sticken vnto thy testimonies, O Lord confound mee not, I will run the way of thy commaundements, when thou hast set my hart at libertie,
[IX. Teach me O Lord the way of thy statutes]
Teach me O Lord the way of thy statutes, and I shall keepe it vnto the end, giue me vnderstanding and I shall keepe thy law, yea I shall keepe it with my whole hart, make me to go in the path of thy commaundements, for therein is my desier enclyne my hart vnto thy testimonies, and not to couetousnesse
[X. O turne away mine eyes]
O turne away mine eyes, least they behold vanitie and quicken thou mee, in thy way, O stablish thy word, in thy seruaunt that I may feare thee, take away the rebuke, that I am afrayd of for thy iudgements are good, behold my delight is in thy commaundements O quicken me in thy righteousnesse.
[XI. Let thy louing mercie come also vnto me]
Let thy louing mercie come also vnto me O Lord euen thy saluation according vnto thy word, so shall I make aunswer vnto my blasphemers, for my trust is in thy word, O take not the word of thy truth vtterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in thy iudgements, so shal I, alway keep thy law, yea, for euer and euer.
[XII. And I will walke at libertie]
And I will walke at libertie for I seek thy commaundements, I will speake of thy testimonies also euen before kings and will not be ashamed and my delight shalbe in thy commaundements which I haue loued, my hands also will I lift vp vnto thy commaundements which I haue loued, and my study shalbe in thy statutes,
The remainder of this volume (Songs XIII to LII) consist of only a single line and have thus been omitted.
