Epitaph of Sir Thomas West | ||
89
[Vertue, honestie, liberalitie, and grace]
Vertue, honestie, liberalitie, and grace,And true religion, this sely graue doth holde.
I doe wishe, that all our great men would,
In good, followe, this noble Barons trace.
That from his wyfe hart, did alwayes chase
Enuy and malice, and sought, of yong and olde.
Loue and fauour, that passeth stone and golde.
Vnto a woorthy man, a rytche purchase,
These wayes he vsed, and obteyned thereby,
Good fame of all men, as well farre of, as nye.
[89]
where with sainctes, he singes vncessantly,
Holy, honor, prayse, and glory,
Geue to God, that gaue him such might,
To liue so nobly, and come to that delight.
