SONNET 4.

[Whole showres of teares to Chloris I will powre]

Whole showres of teares to Chloris I will powre,
As true oblations of my sincere loue,
If that will not suffice most fairest flowre,
Then shall my sighes thee vnto pitie moue.
If neither teares nor sighes can ought preuaile,
My streaming blood thine anger shall appease,
This hand of mine by vigor shall assaile,
To teare my hart asunder thee to please.
Celestiall powres on you I inuocate,
You know the chaste affections of my minde,
I neuer did my faith yet violate,
Why should my Chloris then be so vnkinde?
That neither tears, nor sighs, nor streaming blood,
Can vnto mercy moue hir cruell mood.
