II.
ON THE HORIZON.

Two ships stand on the horizon;
Each shows a lighted sail:
One rises out of morning red,
One sinks in twilight pale.
Two ships stand on the horizon,
Faint sail-gleams far at sea,—
One bears away my sweet lost love,
One brings new love to me.
