MOUNTAIN AND SEA.

WHEN gazing on a summer sea
Beneath a purple sky,
It oft has seemed a mountain ridge
Far rising blue and high.
Now gazing inland and afar,
The thought still comes to me,
How much yon distant mountain line
Is like the dim blue sea.
When thou art seated by my side
Loved memories ever rise;
When thou art gone up swells the tide
Of those sweet, sea-blue eyes.
