BLOOM.

The sudden sun shone through the pane
And lighted both their faces—
A prettier sight just after rain
Ne'er fell in pleasant places:
Two girls. One held a graceful glass,
And one a bulb unsightly,
Ragged and soiled. And this the lass
Upon the vase laid lightly.
“What lovely flowers we'll have,” said they,
“After it starts a-growing!”
The sun, delighted, slipped away
And down the west went glowing.
