A GORGEOUS SUNSET.
As wonderful and fresh to-dayIs this magnificent array
Of purpled light, as 't were the first
That quenched man's beauty-craving thirst.
Yet day ne'er died, but its last hour
Was soothed by like soft solar shower.
It is a promise, daily given,
To sickly, sorrowing Earth, by Heaven,
That pure and beautiful as this
Is yet to be her daily bliss.
