JOSEPH WILSON.

Joseph Wilson—half past one—
Hanky-panky—lots of fun.
“Cash my chips—got to go—
Baby may be sick, you know.”
Boys all make a dreadful kick,
Want to have the General stick.
All in vain—adieux are said—
Quits about six bits ahead.
St. James Hotel—half past two—
General in an awful stew.
Found the baby wide awake
With an awful stomach ache.
With the baby in his arms,
Filled with harrowing alarms,
Sweating, too, at every pore,
Joseph Wilson walks the floor,
Thinks of Hanky-panky then,
Wishes he were back again.
January 22d, 1883.
