WEEP NOT.

Weep not for childhood's happy years,
Grieve not 'cause time rolls on;
Renew the smile and dry the tears,
And let bygones be gone.
Life's but a day, Though come what may,
Joy is the birth of sorrow,
And oft sad hearts from grief departs,
When dawns the final morrow.
Weep not for childhood's happy years,
Let future come what may!
If life be long, earth's passing throng,
Will find us bent and gray.
Life's but a day: Though come what may,
Joy is the birth of sorrow,
And oft sad hearts from grief departs,
When dawns the final morrow.
Weep not for childhood's happy years,
What is to be, let come;
For soon or late at Heaven's Great Gate,
Our journey will be done.
Life's but a day: Though come what may,
Joy is the birth of sorrow,
And oft sad hearts from grief departs,
When dawns the final morrow.
