Mary Jo Tolsh has been selected as the first female security officer at the University. She joined the Department of Security on Feb. 16 and is presently receiving on-the-job training prior to beginning a four-week basic police course on March 6. Upon completion of the course Mrs. Tolsh will be deputized and begin work as a regular security officer, with the same duties and responsibilities as a male officer. She will work particularly with the Dean of Students and in the women's dorm areas. According to Wade Bromwell, Director of Security, the department has been looking for a female officer for several months, as he said such a need had arisen with the increased female enrollment.
