Booters Pick
Captains

Coach Gordon Burris has
announced the new leaders of his
1969 Varsity Soccer Team. Once
again, tri-captains will head the
team.

Third-year man John Taylor,
one of the tri-captains of this past
season, repeats again. He is one of
Burris' top offensive threats from
the critical center halfback
position. At this spot, a man with
the speed and endurance to be all
over the field is needed, and Taylor
has certainly proven himself the
versatile man for the job.

Mike Sorensen, third year-man
and the second of the tri-captains,
has established himself as the
backbone of Burris' running
defense. Having started since his
first-year at left fullback, Sorensen
is a tenacious hustler who has
shown again and again that he is
not afraid to go head to head with
anyone, regardless of his size. At
5′6″, 145 pounds, Sorensen has
intimidated many opponents who
have underestimated him because
of his size.

Goalie Danny Abramson, also in
his fourth year, is the third of the
tri-captains. Like both his fellow
captains, he too has found himself
in a starting role since his first-year.
This season, Abramson allowed
only 20 goals to be scored against
him out of 207 shots fired by
opponents, an impressive
performance.

The 1969 soccer team will be
looking to improve on its record of
4-5 for the '68 campaign just
completed.
