ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HARRY W. PORTER, JR.,
VISITING PROFESSORSHIP IN THE SCHOOL OF
ARCHITECTURE

WHEREAS, Harry W. Porter, Jr., joined the faculty of the School of Architecture in 1969 and established the Landscape Architecture degree program in the School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Porter served as the eighth Dean of the School of Architecture and the first Architect for the University; and

WHEREAS, an anonymous donor and many of Mr. Porter's friends and former students have contributed to a professorship in his honor;

RESOLVED, the Board of Visitors establishes the Harry W. Porter, Jr. Visiting Professorship in the School of Architecture, to be held in the School of Architecture; the professorship shall rotate among the disciplines of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architectural History, and Urban and Environmental Planning. The Board thanks the friends and former students of Mr. Porter whose generosity has made the Porter Professorship possible.
