Then they spoke thus:
They had made gravy for him.
He did not look at it.
And he began to eat a bit of grass that stood up on the other side.
Then they spoke thus:
1. tł'oh yá'édiͅshíͅ 'where there was no grass'. tł'oh 'grass'. yá- 'absolutely' plus 'édiͅ 'there is none' and the postposition -shíͅ 'from'.
2. 'iyáashiͅ yiyáͅshiͅ 'what does he eat?'. 'iyáa 'what'; - shiͅ, interrog. encl. yiyáͅ, 3rd person imp. with 3rd person obj. of ...[hi- perf.]- yáͅ 'to eat' [act. tr.].
3. yátaa'óóndilná'a 'they had made gravy for him'. yá- 'for him' plus 3rd person perf. of taa-'i-...[hi- perf.]- ndííł 'to make gravy'. taa- incorporated form of tó 'water' [?]; 'i- indef. obj. [?]; - ndííł 'to handle several objects'. In the next line of the text is found the 2nd person dual imp. of this verb. Cf. also -taandile 'gravy'.
4. bich'iͅiͅnjíńkáͅná'a/ 'they put it before him'. bich'iͅiͅ/ 'toward him' plus 3a person perf. of ni-ni- ...[ni- perf.]-kaa 'to put down something in a container' [act. tr.].
5. 'ik'e'éńłchozhná'a. 'he began to eat'. Perf. of 'ik'ee-'i'ni-...[ni- perf.]-ł-chóósh 'to begin to eat a grass-like substance' [act. intr. ?]. The theme occurs only with this prefix complex.
